Transfer News: Thato Khiba aiming for growth at Stellenbosch FC

Thato Khiba has opened up on his move to Stellenbosch FC and his desire to contribute to the club’s success.

The 28-year-old was confirmed as Stellies’ latest signing from TS Galaxy earlier today following a number of reports since the start of the January transfer window.

The Maroons recently parted ways with Jayden Adams who has reunited with attacker Iqraam Rayners at Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I’m very happy to be here and to be part of Stellenbosch Football Club. It’s a beautiful club and town, and an all-round good environment. Stellenbosch is also a real football-playing team so it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to make to join the club,” said Khiba.

The former Marumo Gallants player has reunited with former Galaxy striker Lehlogonolo Mojela and former Gallants defender Ismael Toure.

Khiba expressed his ambition to win trophies with Stellenbosch FC. The team recently secured a spot in the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals and currently sits eighth on the league table.

Their Nedbank Cup journey kicks off on Tuesday, 28 January, against Kruger United at Danie Craven Stadium.

“Every player wants to win trophies and I’m hoping to achieve that with the team and to contribute towards that goal.” Khiba concluded.

“We are thrilled to welcome Thato to Stellenbosch FC. He’s a player who fits our playing philosophy perfectly and brings versatility, quality, and leadership to the team. We are confident he can make a significant impact in the second half of this season, and in the seasons to come.” said Club CEO Rob Benadie.
