TRANSFER NEWS: KEGAN JOHANNES THRILLED BY MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MOVE

Kegan Johannes is excited to get his career up and running with “prestigious club” Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 23-year-old former Cape Town Spurs defender joined the Brazilians this week after three consistent seasons for SuperSport United.

Johannes, who has three South Africa under 23 caps, while captaining the side, featured 65 times in total for Matsatsantsa, scoring four goals and assisting with one.

He signed a “long-term contract” with Downs and was grateful to the club for recognising his talents and offering him a deal. He also thanked his former employers.

Johannes said in the Sowetan: “I want to thank all the board members and the CEO (Stanley Matthews) for giving me the belief and opportunity to be part of this prestigious club.

“To the staff, technical team and backroom staff, I want to say thank you for making me a better footballer and a better person as well.

“To my teammates, I want to say a big thank you for the wonderful memories we have created, the support and brotherhood we shared over these past few years. To the Matsatsantsa fans, I bid farewell to a place I called home for the past three seasons.”

Johannes is Sundowns’ third signing so far, following the arrival of Kobamelo Kodisang and Arthur de Oliveira Sales.
