TRANSFER NEWS: IQRAAM RAYNERS REMAINS COMMITTED TO STELLENBOSCH DESPITE EXIT RUMOURS

Stellenbosch forward Iqraam Rayners has expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rayners, undeterred by the speculation, is focused on the upcoming continental competition, aiming to leverage the experience to solidify his position in the South African national team.

“I don’t know anything about clubs who want me because that’s the duty of the management… Rob Benadie [the club’s CEO] but I am looking forward to playing in the CAF (Confederation Cup),” Rayners said.

“For us, this is a good opportunity to grow as a team and individually I am hoping to gain invaluable experience that can also help me be a better player because I want to keep my place at Bafana as well.

“Coach Hugo [Broos] believes in me, so I must try by all means to stay consistent and repay his faith by scoring goals, that’s my focus going forward as well.”

This season marks a historic milestone for Stellenbosch FC as they make their debut in the Confederation Cup, following an impressive third-place finish in the DStv Premiership.

Their recent achievements include clinching their first major trophy, the Carling Knockout, as a top-tier team.

Rayners enjoyed a remarkable season, netting 15 goals in the league and narrowly missing out on the Golden Boot by a single goal.

His outstanding performance has attracted attention from major clubs, including Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Despite the transfer rumours, the 28-year-old striker remains focused on his current team.

Nominated for several prestigious awards in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) – including Footballer of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, and Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament – Rayners claims he is unaware of any concrete interest from other clubs.

His primary goal is to excel in the Confederation Cup with Stellenbosch FC, hoping the experience will enhance his standing in the national squad.
