SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has addressed the speculation surrounding the potential transfers of Tashreeq Morris and Christian Saile.
While Amakhosi are yet to confirmed the announcement, the Matsatsantsa mentor revealed the news at his Nedbank Cup last 32 pre-match press conference.
Hunt confirmed that Tashreeq Morris has sealed a deal to join Kaizer Chiefs.
Morris is a 30-year-old former Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United striker.
He only joined Hunt’s side at the beginning of the current campaign and has two goals in 10 appearances.
The head coach said in the Citizen: “It is sad to see Morris go.
“But he has gone to a great club. It is a great opportunity for him and a life changing experience. He has gone where they need him and I am sure he will do a good job for them (Chiefs).”
Morris had been without a club before joining SuperSport, after his release from Babina Noko.
“He did a good job for us,” added Hunt, We threw him a lifeline, and it is amazing how your life changes in football.
“They are getting a fantastic person, a good player who will give them exactly what I think they need.”
Christian Saile will, meanwhile, now join SuperSport from Chiefs. The DR Congo international was signed from Nchanga Rangers at the beginning of 2023 and went on to feature 56 times, scoring seven goals and creating four.
“I know what we are getting, and I will use him differently. But that is a point for another time. Right now all the other things need to get done.”
Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef, meanwhile, refused to admit that a deal had been done, prior to an announcement from the club.
He exclaimed: “Morris signed? Really? When? I don’t see Morris at my training. The day I see him, or our department post we have signed him I will answer. I saw Morris when we played against them (SuperSport).
“Saile is with us, he was with me this morning and we will have lunch together now!”
