Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro is set to face his former club, Marumo Gallants, this weekend in a highly anticipated encounter.
Chivaviro, who scored 17 goals across all competitions during his final stint for Marumo last season, has secured a starting berth for the match.
While acknowledging the emotional significance of the game, Chivaviro insists he remains focused on his professional duties:
I believe I am a professional, yes it’s my former team and like you said, scored 17 goals with Marumo, but I was at work and so is the case right now. I will be at work”
The match will be played in Bloemfontein, where Chivaviro hopes to benefit from the passionate support of the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.
“The Kaizer Chiefs fans are the biggest stakeholders of this club and the more the merrier. The more they come and support us, they give us the morale and the boost to play well.
Chivaviro also praised his coach, Nasreddine Nabi, for his demanding yet educational approach.
“Working with coach Nabi has been very educational. He does things different. He is very direct and he has tried to instill what he want’s and expects from us and what comes from being a Kaizer Chiefs player. I think everyone has raised his [their] standards and we just can’t wait for the season to begin.
Looking ahead, Chivaviro assured Kaizer Chiefs fans that the team is determined to improve on last season’s performance.
“Playing for Kaizer Chiefs, there will always be expectations and what we want to say to the fans is that we definitely want to be doing better than we did last season. They are going to be watching beautiful football and accompanied by good results”.
