Thalente Mbatha has attracted plenty of attention on social media after fans highlighted his remarkable unbeaten record when he starts for Orlando Pirates.
The Bafana Bafana international has gone 32 consecutive club matches unbeaten across all competitions when named in the starting XI, a streak regarded as the longest by any player in modern PSL history.
However, despite the praise from supporters, Mbatha insists he is not concerned about the statistics and remains focused on his responsibilities to the team.
“I’ve seen the pictures and everything, but as I said, for me, my job is to do my job with the Pirates,” Mbatha told journalists.
“So, I don’t go around looking for that if the team doesn’t lose or anything, because football is about three dimensions. You win, you draw, you lose.
“So for me, it’s a matter of doing my job, and if the team continues winning, that means I’m part of the person that’s doing my job.”
The midfielder’s return comes at an important time for Pirates, who will be looking to defend their MTN8 crown against Sundowns.

Mbatha spent around two months on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in early August, ruling him out of several domestic fixtures as well as international commitments with Bafana Bafana.
The 25-year-old has since stepped up his recovery and featured in a number of behind-closed-doors friendly matches as he worked towards regaining his match fitness ahead of the final.
