Teams want Cardoso since Chiefs departure

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso confirms there have been other teams in South Africa and abroad that have shown interest in his services since departing AmaKhosi.

The 33-year-old Cardoso along with a number of other players left Chiefs after their contracted were not renewed.
Other players on the way out at AmaKhosi are: Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro, Lebogang Manyama, Lazarous Kambole, Daniel Akpeyi and Kearyn Baccus, while Anthony Akumu Agay has been transfer-listed by the club.
In an interview when asked about his future, Cardoso said: “Yeah look there are a lot of teams interested in me in South Africa, while there is interest from teams abroad.

“So for me, I would wait until all the talks with Chiefs has gone under the water and get over that bridge at that time.

“But at the moment it’s off-season and all I want to do is to spend time with my family, just relax and get my mind out of football.”
New Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane seems to be behind the player clear-out at the club having blamed poor defending for a number of goals conceded this season.
“To me, it’s one of those things, in football, it does happen where you can’t be at your best every single time,” Cardoso added.
“Even the best in the world makes mistakes, but if I let it affect me it will affect my game which will just drop my standard altogether.
“So, it’s one of those things, if you are not mentally strong in football, it can kill you.
“In the last five years, I have been through hell and back. I have made many mistakes, and I have also given many contributions, so as a footballer, you have to be strong and carry on with the game.”
