It’s that time of the year where football’s mainstream leagues go into hibernation, leaving punters to look elsewhere for their bets. So, for the next few weeks, we will be looking at some of the world’s more undistinguished leagues, starting with the Swedish Allsvenskan where there is some great value on offer!
Saturday 28 May
IFK Göteborg 11/20
Draw 26/10
GIF Sundsvall 46/10
(15:00)
IFK Göteborg look to put a halt to their five-game winless streak when they host rock-bottom GIF Sundsvall on Saturday. IFK Göteborg started the season well with three wins in a row, but have been unable to maintain that form, with four defeats and two draws from their next six games. GIF Sundsvall, however, have lost seven of their eight matches, while IFK Göteborg completed the league double over them last season. The home win is tipped.
Mjällby 39/20
Draw 37/20
Kalmar 14/10
(15:00)
Kalmar travel to face Mjällby looking to continue their run of form in their bid to improve on last season’s sixth placed finish. Mjällby are currently in a mid-table position, but they’ve picked up 10 points from a possible 12 at home. Kalmar have won three of their four games this month, but have already lost twice on their travels. Mjällby won this fixture 4-0 last season and are tipped to oust their opponents.
Häcken 4/10
Draw 37/10
Sirius 56/10
(15:00)
Häcken are the early pace-setters in the league, although they face a potential banana skin in the form of Sirius. Häcken head into this game as firm favourites having won four consecutive matches in a row. Sirius, however, will fancy their chances of an upset having completed the league double over Häcken last season. The visitors are unbeaten in three matches, collecting seven points from a possible nine. Both Teams To Score at 9/10 seems the safest bet and offers more value than the home victory.
Sunday 29 May
Degerfors 46/10
Draw 32/10
Malmö 9/20
(15:00)
Onto Sunday’s action now and Malmö are up against Degerfors. The Swedish champions have been enduring a miserable title defence and head into this fixture looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Their opponents Degerfors succumbed to their seventh defeat of the season in a 2-1 loss at Varberg last weekend. While Malmö are the superior team, the safest option here is Both Teams To Score at 7/10.
Djurgården 9/20
Draw 3/1
Varberg 52/10
(15:00)
Djurgården will be looking to continue their good home form when they host Varberg. Djurgården are unbeaten on their home turf with four wins in five games, including an emphatic 4-0 victory over Swedish champions Malmö last time out. Varberg, on the other hand, are winless in their last three games on the road, losing to AIK and Häcken before drawing away to IFK Göteborg. The home win is tipped confidently.
Norrköping 13/10
Draw 43/20
Elfsborg 18/10
(15:00)
Norrköping will look for an immediate return to winning form when they host Elfsborg on Saturday. The Comrades slumped to a 3-0 loss at table-toppers Hammarby last weekend, but had won four in a row prior to that loss, with wins over Kalmar, Värnamo, Helsingborg and GIF Sundsvall. Elfsborg, on the other hand, got back to winning ways with a 3-1 home victory over IFK Göteborg. They had lost 2-0 away to Sirius before a goalless home draw against Djurgården leading up to that game. Norrköping won this fixture last season and are tipped to repeat that feat.
Helsingborg 4/1
Draw 26/10
AIK 6/10
(17:30)
AIK are joint leaders in the standings and strongly fancied to see off bottom-of-the-table Helsingborg. The last time these sides met in the league, AIK ran out 2-0 winners which was their fourth victory in five meetings against Helsingborg. The away win is tipped.
Värnamo 28/10
Draw 9/4
Hammarby 17/20
(17:30)
Hammarby travel to Värnamo looking to maintain their position at the summit. Leading the way with the most goals scored and the fewest conceded, Hammarby are strongly fancied to come away with all three points. The Swedish league leaders won this fixture 2-0 last season, extending their unbeaten record over Värnamo to six matches. Back the visitors at 17/20.
