We’ll take another crack at the Swedish league this weekend. Last weekend proved a baptism of fire (admittedly) but after some introspection, hard conversations in the mirror and a bit more delving into the intricacies of these football teams…I believe we are not poised to make amends!
Saturday 9 July
Malmo 2/7
Draw 38/10
Varberg 8/1
(15:00)
I was quite upbeat about the confidence surely present in that Malmo camp last week, that subsequently turned out to bite us in the rear end! The visitors come into the game off the back of a decent performance and will be confident about causing an upset.
I can’t trust Malmo here; I think both teams scoring is the play. Get on at 12/10.
Degerfors TBA
Draw TBA
Norrkoping TBA
(17:30)
Neither side here have any real degree of quality and their recent performances justify this. The hosts are now three without a win and their visitors aren’t much better with now in five.
Goals seem to be a scarce commodity at both camps and so I think under 2.5 goals should get us through.
Sunday 10 July
Elfsborg 11/10
Draw 2/1
AIK 22/10
(15:00)
I must admit I was quite surprised to see the price available on the home side. I think they have a side who are full of confidence and the ability to match. They’ve had a mixed bag of results by their standards – but manage to get a positive result and avoid defeat by hook or by crook.
I think the home win is too enticing to leave out – get on.
Mjallby 5/2
Draw 2/1
Hacken 1/1
(15:00)
I think this is an incredibly evenly set match. It really is a coin flip and could go either way. However, I think the proverbial ‘shrewdly in the pack’ is the fact that neither have managed to keep a clean sheet in as many as four games.
Given the consistency in these sides as well as their competitiveness, both teams to score at 15/20 should be the one.
Kalmar 7/10
Draw 23/10
Sirius 7/2
(17:30)
I can’t see past a home win here. Kalmar don’t seem like a side who steamroll their opponents into submission – and I suppose that point offers Sirius a chance – but they know how to win.
The visitors have conceded 11 goals in as little as five games, with that sort of looseness in their midst I make the hosts a banker for all bets.
Monday 11 July
Helsingborg TBA
Draw TBA
Djurgarden TBA
(19:00)
Tricky little game to call this one, the visitors are beginning to put together a run of fixtures from which they have extracted well-deserved points and so I am leaning toward them.
My doubts creep in when you consider the performances Helsingborg have managed to register – and the results they have then been afforded – when playing some quality sides in their league.
I think a draw might be the play here, but I wouldn’t go in too aggressively.
Hammarby TBA
Draw TBA
IFK Goteborg TBA
(19:00)
Hammarby have been incredulously inconsistent in recent weeks, and as a result proven costly to follow. Yes, that might have been a small nod to our racing public in the aftermath of the Hollywoodbets Durban July! But let’s move on…
The visitors have been the model of consistency and but for a 3-1 defeat to Fredrikstad, swatted away all comers. I’m happy to back the visitors here, knowing my money sits with a competitive, consistent, and quality induced football side.
Varnamo 5/10
Draw 26/10
GIF Sundsvall 48/10
(19:00)
This is another fixture where the price available on the ‘favourite’ was rather surprising. Of course, Varnamo is the better side who should win, but they have blown hot and cold and (at least in recent times) allowed teams into the game unnecessarily.
The visitors have not been brilliant themselves, but their last win out against Malmo will surely give them some sort of impetus here. I think Varnamo to win and both teams scoring could be an opportunity. Get on at 24/10.
