Supersport Utd vs Swallows Preview

ABSA Premiership | Wednesday 18 September | Lucas Moripe Stadium | 19:30

To Win (90 Min)

Supersport Utd 9/10

Swallows 33/10

Draw 22/10

My final pearl of wisdom for you comes in the form of an elite clash. One Pretoria giant versus a legendary Soweto outfit.

Despite an unexpected battle for one point away to Black Aces on Sunday afternoon, Supersport are still top of the log.

Their long list of talented players means competition for starting places is high; a position coaches love to be in.

Cavin Johnson has done some great business in the off season, snapping up the likes of Bennett Chenene up front, and Mame Niang, who, although not starting on Sunday, came on and stylishly set up David Mathebula for their equaliser.

Some great ammunition to see them through the season.

I have a love/hate relationship with Swallows however.

When they’re good they’re good, and when they’re not, well, you get the picture.

There’s no denying their ability to waltz over any team in the league when they want to, but in the same breath Saturday’s loss to AmaZulu showed the other half of their schizophrenic personality.

Chabangu looked less and less likely to score as the game went on, and even inspirations like Siyabonga Nomvethe were no help to their cause.

With all things considered, I’m not sure anything less than the Dube Birds’ best personality will be enough for them to snatch three points from Supersport at home.

Betting Prediction: Supersport United

A home win here seems the sensible option at 9/10, and is the well I’ll be wishing into.
