SuperSport United will be looking for just their third win of the Betway Premiership season at home to Marumo Gallants on Friday.
Gavin Hunt’s side has managed just two victories since their opening six games this season.
They were most recently held to two goalless stalemates, drawing with both Golden Arrows and Chippa United.
They did also manage to overcome Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 after a 4-0 drubbing by the Soweto giants in the Carling Knockout Cup first round.
While SuperSport come into this tie in ninth place with nine points, Gallants are down in 15th place with just four points.
Dan Malesela’s charges have just one win this season over AmaZulu, and last lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch in the league, ahead of a 1-0 victory over Stellies in the Carling Knockout quarterfinals, and 2-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the semis.
Ahead of the tie, Hunt said he hopes to see some improvement in his team after welcoming back Bradley Grobler and Gamphani Lungu after injury for the previous Chippa tie.
He said on SABC Sport: “Yeah you can see, with Bradley first, he obviously hasn’t played since, and August is a long time. But at least he got some mileage, yes, he lacks sharpness – it’s inevitable, he’s had a major operation.
“And John hasn’t played since May so you could see that as well. We looked better, with our players back, we need all our players.
“But yeah, we move forward.”
Malesela’s days at Gallants might be numbered after Molefi Ntseki was appointed Technical Director this week.
Following his appointment, the former Kaizer Chiefs coach said: “I’m looking forward to working hard as the Technical Director.
“I want to thank the club, the supporters, the coaches, and the management.
“I’m here to work with everyone to make this club a success.”
