SuperSport United signs Samir Nurkovic

SuperSport United has confirmed the signing of Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic, who joins the club as a free agent.

The 32-year-old has agreed to a one-and-a-half-year deal with Matsatsantsa and is anticipated to make his debut in January, pending the approval of his work permit.

Nurkovic parted ways with TS Galaxy at the start of the season having played 29 games and scored 10 goals during his stint with the Rockets.

He will reunite with Gavin Hunt, with whom he previously worked during their time at Kaizer Chiefs. His arrival follows closely behind that of former Sekhukhune United striker Tashreeq Morris, who was recently signed to replace veteran forward Bradley Grobler, sidelined for an extended period due to injury.

“I am so happy and grateful to be at a wonderful and amazing club like SuperSport United FC. I am very much looking forward to my first training session at the club,
getting to meet my new teammates and getting to work,” said Nurkovic.

Stan Matthews, who is the CEO of United commended the signing of the striker adding that he has a proven track record and will add value to the team.

“Samir is a proven number 9 target man with a good track record and who will fit in well with our style of play,
which looks to get crosses in from wide areas and to capitalize on set pieces. “
