SuperSport United‘s leading goal-scorer, Bradley Grobler, will be sidelined for an extended period after undergoing surgery for a groin injury.
The veteran striker suffered the injury during the MTN8 quarter-final against Orlando Pirates.
Coach Gavin Hunt confirmed the news at the Betway Premiership launch, saying,
He had an operation on his groin. It will take time to get him back to the team,”
Grobler’s absence is a significant blow to SuperSport, who are already facing a shortage of attacking options.
The 36-year-old was aiming to chase down Siyabonga Nomvethe’s record of 123 PSL goals but will now find it challenging to achieve that milestone before his potential retirement next year.
