Mamelodi Sundowns’ pre-season woes continued on Tuesday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cardiff City in Austria. The result marks the PSL champions’ third match without a victory in their European training camp.
The Bluebirds dominated the early stages, but Sundowns managed to hold firm until the break. However, Joel Colwill broke the deadlock early in the second half to give the English side the lead. Tashreeq Matthews rescued a point for the Brazilians with a late equalizer.
Despite a string of respectable performances, the results have left much to be desired. With the changes made to the coaching structure, even the most passionate of fans will have concerns regarding the Sundowns camp, with the team having previously lost to SV Sandhausen and Dynamo Kyiv. The coaching staff will be eager to address the issues affecting the team’s morale and performance before the start of the new season.

Looking to turn their fortunes around, Sundowns will face Saudi Arabian sides Al Arabi and Al Hilal on Friday, July 26th.
