Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced, via their website, that Ramahlwe Mphahlele will leave the club and have wished him well for his future endeavours.

In a statement released by the Chloorkop based outfit, Sundowns wished the defender well on the player’s future endeavors. Mphahlele is expected to be unveiled as a Kaizer Chiefs player when the Soweto giants unveil their new players on Monday, June 27th.

“Mamelodi Sundowns have wished Ramahlwe Mphahlele well as he leaves the Brazilians to further his career elsewhere,” read the statement.

“Mamelodi Sundowns wishes him well as his contract comes to an end and we thank him for his leadership and valuable contribution to the club over the years since he joined the team.

Rama formed an integral part of Pitso Mosimane’s side since joining from Moroka Swallows in 2011. He captained Downs to their Telkom Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup trophies, as well as Sundowns’ record-breaking Premiership season in 2015/16, in which they amassed 71 points to easily secure the title.

This will be the second time in two seasons that the skipper of Bafana Bastyle has left the outfit after clinching the league title, following Alje Schut’s decision to move back to his native Netherlands to join Kozakken Boys after Downs’ domestic success in the 2013/14 season.
