Sunderland have looked a new team in recent weeks, energised, determined, dynamic – until the weekend that was.
An insipid performance against Hull was enough for me to want to break something.
As it was, I calmed myself down and figured that I’d make some money back when they face Southampton in the cup.
I’m not saying the Saints are an easy win but Sunderland seem a bit of a cup team under Gus Poyet.
He knows a fair bit about cup runs himself, having been part of the Chelsea team of the late 90’s.
The teams met not so long ago, with a 2-2 draw the outcome in a match that resembled the insanity of the cup.
In fact the last three meetings between these two have been draws, but I expect the atmosphere at the Stadium of Light to tip the scales in the Black Cat’s favour.
