Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker admits his side have only themselves to blame for their recent 2-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
Khomotjo Lekoloane had opened the scoring at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night after 20 minutes.
Chiefs though secured all three points as Wandile Duba (28′, 57′) bagged a brace with one goal in each half.
Barker slammed his side’s defending while also expressing his frustration over Amakhosi’s tactics.
The Stellies boss said on IOL: “I don’t think Kaizer Chiefs would have been good enough to score against us had we not made our errors, which basically led to the first and second goal.
“After we tried to get ourselves back into the game, the last 15-20 minutes unfortunately became a lot of stop-start, a lot of cramps, a lot of slowing down the game, a lot of chaotic incidents.
“The opposition staff on the bench created the chaos needed for them to see out the game.”
The result left Stellenbosch in seventh place on the standings, but they must quickly shift their focus ahead of a CAF Confederation Cup group stage encounter with Stade Malien at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday.
Barker added: “Sunday is obviously a massive game for us. If we win that game, we go to the knockout stages.
“Making the knockout stages would be really special in our maiden campaign in the Confed Cup.”
