Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has revealed that defender Ismael Toure continues to seek a transfer to Europe. The 26-year-old Ivorian has attracted interest from several clubs both domestically and abroad.
Although Barker left Toure out of his squad for recent CAF Confederation Cup matches, he expressed a desire for the player to remain with Stellenbosch. Following his team’s dominant 8-0 aggregate win over Nsingizini Hotspurs, Barker emphasized his reluctance to see Toure depart.
After guiding his team to a convincing 8-0 aggregate victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs, Barker explained that he is reluctant to see Toure leave Stellenbosch.
He said on iDiski Times: “Toure at this stage, it’s a difficult one, the European window closes at the end of August.
“Obviously he’s got ambitions and that’s where he desperately wants to go.
“At this stage, nothing has materialised. So, if the window does close, obviously he has to get on with things.”
On leaving the player out of their CAF preliminary round tie, the coach added: “But for now, we felt it was the type of opposition and type of game that we didn’t need to add further stress to him at this stage.
“I’m sure by this time next week, we’ll have a clear indication of the way forward.”
