Stellenbosch FC Bolsters Backroom Staff for New Season and CAF Challenge

Stellenbosch FC is gearing up for the upcoming season with a focus on building upon their impressive 2023/24 campaign and their historic CAF Confederation Cup debut. To achieve these goals, the club has bolstered its backroom staff with several key additions.

Strengthening the High Performance Department

Rodet Yila joins as the first-team strength and conditioning coach, bringing experience from Cape Town Spurs and the Sports Science Institute.

Expanded Technical Expertise

After a successful stint as a temporary analyst, Jean Du Plessis takes on a permanent role as a technical analyst, replacing the Pirates bound Devon O’Brien.

Youth Development

Stellenbosch University and Stellenbosch FC’s collaborative research program continues to yield results. Hilda du Toit (junior sports scientist) and Solomon Akumba (strength and conditioning coach) join the club through a collaborative research pathway, providing support to the youth and reserve teams while contributing their knowledge to the wider staff.

Enhancing Medical Support

Jason Matter: Joins as the new reserve team physiotherapist, further strengthening the club’s medical department.
