Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has openly admitted his desire to play for Kaizer Chiefs.
Nwabali, who joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United in Nigeria, has become a prominent figure in South African football due to his outstanding performances.
His consistent displays earned him a call-up to the Nigerian national team, where he ultimately became the first-choice goalkeeper.
The 28-year-old shot-stopper recently showcased his skills on a larger stage at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast, where he played a crucial role in leading Nigeria to the final.
Though Nigeria fell short of the host nation, Nwabali’s performance caught the attention of international clubs as well as Chiefs.
In an interview on Sports Night Amplified, he shared his ambition to join Chiefs, which would mark a significant step in his professional journey and fulfill his aspiration of representing the renowned club in the South African Premier Division.
“To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs that I want to play for, this is the club I really want to play for in South Africa,” Nwabali said.
“I want to play for Kaizer Chiefs with all my heart. I wouldn’t say I’ve been supporting them, but this is I felt like I want to play for.”
The Nigerian international stated that if Amakhosi can come up with the right offer at Chippa United he wouldn’t hesitate to join them and admitted that the Glamour Boys goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari can give him a competitive challenge.
“To be honest the Rwanda guy (Fiacre Ntwari) is doing well with the club.
“And I won’t take that away from him, he is really doing well. But as I’ve said Kaizer Chiefs was the club among the whole clubs in South Africa I would like to go to.”
