Tottenham’s hopes of signing Spain Under-21 star Dani Ceballos have been handed a boost after he was left out of Real Madrid’s pre-season squad
The 22-year-old starred for Spain’s Under-21 side in their European Championship win this summer, as he scored twice and grabbed two assists during the tournament.
However, he is currently not in manager Zinedine Zidane’s plans following a huge outlay of transfers recently, and has been left out of their squad for the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament in the USA.
Tottenham have been reportedly chasing him all summer as they seek to further strengthen their midfield and Ceballos’ omission from that squad means he likely to depart this summer.
However, the Spaniard is keen to only leave on loan as he still sees his long-term future with Los Blancos, but wants regular football for the 2019-20 season.
“I think [Zinedine] Zidane will have seen the tournament,” said Ceballos recently.
“But we all know what he thinks.
“I would like to try out something new: next year, my goal is to play 40 games and play in the Euros.”
