There’s four matches taking place in the PSL this weekend with some enticing odds on offer. |
The Doctor has a tasty 8/1 quad lined up this weekend for gameweek 21 of the ABSA Premiership. On Friday night, Ajax Cape Town will play host to Free State Stars, while title-chasers Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs are in action on Saturday, with the Citizens travelling to 13th-placed Bloem Celtic and Amakhosi away to bottom-of-the-log Baroka FC. On Sunday, Highlands Park and Maritzburg United will do battle at the Makhulong Stadium.
Friday 17 March
11/10 Ajax Cape Town | Draw 22/10 | Free State Stars 5/2 (20:00)
We kick things off with a clash between Ajax Cape Town and Free State Stars. The Urban Warriors are winless in five matches in the ABSA Premiership, losing two and drawing their last three. Stanley Menzo’s charges will be hoping to turn around their form. Ajax are still searching for their first home win in 2017. They lost the city derby 2-0 to Cape Town City and drew 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs last month, before ending 2016 with a three-match winning streak at the Cape Town Stadium. Free State Stars will be hoping to avoid defeat for the third time in a row in the ABSA Premiership. Ea Lla Koto suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Highlands Park before losing 2-1 at Maritzburg United last month. Serame Letsoaka’s side have the worst away from in the league – they’ve lost seven of their 10 matches with just one win. I’m going for the home win.
Saturday 18 March
23/10 Bloem Celtic | 21/10 | Cape Town City 12/10 (18:00)
Saturday’s action gets underway with a tie between Bloem Celtic and title-chasers Cape Town City. Celtic, who are 13th in the table, have lost four of their last five matches in the ABSA Premiership, including two in a row. They’ve won just twice at home this season, suffering six defeats from 10 matches played. Cape Town City are enjoying their debut season in the top-flight. Eric Tinkler’s charges are currently second on the league standings, level on 38 points with table-toppers Bidvest Wits, who have a game in hand. The Citizens are in total opposite form of their opponents – unbeaten in their last five ABSA Premiership matches, winning four times. Cape Town City won the reverse fixture 1-0 in November thanks to a goal from Lehlohonolo Majoro. The away win is tipped confidently.
7/1 Baroka FC | 33/10 | Kaizer Chiefs 4/10 (20:15)
Kaizer Chiefs travel to Polokwane to take on NFD-bound Baroka FC. The hosts come into this fixture in horrendous form, winning just two of their 20 matches played in the PSL this season. Sadly for their supporters, not one of Bakgaga’s victories have come at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Kgoloko Thobejane’s men have also failed to find the back of the net in four ABSA Premiership encounters. Kaizer Chiefs, who are still in the title race, will look to cause further misery upon the Polokwane-based side. Amakhosi are unbeaten in eight league games, but come off back-to-back draws against Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates. This is the perfect match for Steve Komphela’s men to return to winning ways. Get on the away win and include in all multiples.
Sunday 19 March
15/10 Highlands Park | 21/10 | Maritzburg United 18/10 (15:30)
Highlands Park will host Maritzburg United at the Makhulong Stadium on Sunday. The Lions of the North were humbled out the Nedbank Cup by fellow relegation-threatened side, Free State Stars, losing 2-0 away from home. Maritzburg were also kicked out the tournament, suffering a 3-1 loss to KZN-rivals, Golden Arrows. Highlands Park have had a tough time since their arrival into the PSL and sit 15th on the table. The Team of Choice are just two points adrift of the top eight and have put together a decent run of top performances. These sides drew 1-1 in November and I’m expecting Maritzburg to be up for the challenge again. Take them on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 4/10.
QUAD @ 8/1
Ajax Cape Town Win 11/10
Cape Town City Win 12/10
Kaizer Chiefs Win 4/10
Maritzburg Win/Draw 4/10
