Luke Fleurs has devastatingly passed away following a hijacking on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old Kaizer Chiefs defender was fatally shot while at a petrol station in Johannesburg.

Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo revealed that two armed suspects had approached Fleurs and instructed him to get out of his car before shooting him.

Despite being rushed to hospital, he was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

One of the suspects is said to have driven off in the vehicle, while no arrests have been made.

Fleurs was born in Cape Town and was a product of the Ubuntu Football Academy.

He joined Chiefs from SuperSport United this season but was yet to make his debut and was considered one of South Africa’s most talented young defenders.
