Sekhukhune United: Lehlohonolo Seema praises players

Sekhukhune United bounced back from two consecutive heavy defeats with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cape Town City.

The win was a testament to the team’s character, according to Seema.

“I think credit must go to the players for their character, it wasn’t easy [after] back-to-back losses with margins of three goals, but I think it’s not how many times you have lost, it’s about how you bounce back – and this is the character they showed today,” he said.

The solitary goal, a second-half penalty converted by Keletso Makgalwa, proved decisive. While Seema was pleased with the result, he acknowledged that his side could have pushed for more.

“We never got it easy, but I think we showed that we wanted it more because we didn’t even play the game that we normally play – we had to adjust to the way Cape Town City was playing,” he added.

“Both teams were playing off the second ball mostly, and it was up to the one team that would make a mistake, and we managed to get the goal.

“The chances [created] – I don’t want to talk about them because in every game we create chance and don’t convert them, so the day we convert them, I think I will be a happy person, but we’ll continue working on the chance we are creating.”

The win moves the club up to seventh position in the Premiership on 13 points, level with Golden Arrows on points but behind on goal difference.
