Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema praised his side’s “ugly” CAF Confederation Cup victory.
Seema’s charges came from a goal down to defeat Diables Noirs 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday night for their first Group D points, from two games.
Kamohelo Sithole netted on the half hour mark to cancel out Alves Ngakosso-Oko’s 27th minute opener, and Daniel Cardoso secured the win with his goal a minute before half-time.
Sekhukhune are now third in their group with three points; level with second-placed Stade Malien and three adrift of leaders RSB Berkane.
Seema said on iDiski Times: “I think it’s typical of CAF games we won ugly.
“I’ll say we won ugly because towards the end of the game they were coming. You’d say the team was the team that was playing at home but that’s how you have to play in this competition because there are a lot of factors that are happening and if you try and become naive you will suffer.
“However I’m happy with the effort and we are still not where we want to be but we are heading in the right direction. I think in the first half we should have gotten a few goals maybe one, two three but we couldn’t finish.
“And we knew that this team lost the last game, we lost our last game, and this game was going to be difficult. They also wanted to win it so that they give themselves the chance to qualify for the next round. We also knew that if we lose this game then our chances are becoming slimmer.”
The 13th placed DStv Premiership side are next in action against Chippa United on Wednesday.
