Sekhukhune United bid farewell to Owen da Gama

Sekhukhune United have decided to relieve Owen da Gama of his duties as co-coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Da Gama was brought in with only five games remaining of the season to work alongside MacDonald Makhubedu and his technical team.
According to Soccer Laduma, Da Gama and the club bosses have had some sort of disagreement leading to the two parties parting ways.
“Sekhukhune United Football Club have parted ways with Mr Owen “Thifhuriwi” Da Gama. Mr Da Gama joined Babina Noko in April 2022 as the co-coach to MacDonald Makhubedu for the remainder of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership League season. Sekhukhune United Football Club would like to wish Mr Da Gama all the best,” confirmed the club.
Da Gama was a fearsome striker in his day turning out for the likes of Dynamos and Moroka Swallows. The 60-year-old has heaps of experience as a coach, taking charge of a whole host of clubs in his time including the likes of Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy, Highlands Park and even the South African under-23 national team and senior national team.
