TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic feels that Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker should have been named the 2023-24 Coach of the Season.
The 45-year-old was speaking during the launch of the MTN8 Cup where his side will battle Stellies in their opening match at Danie Craven Stadium on 4 August.
“It’s great to play against a great team. Whenever we played against them it was very tough games and I always said that I like the coach a lot.
“In my view, he was the Coach of the Season, it is just my opinion. Because what he did was just amazing.
Ramovic acknowledged that the match will not be easy as his side are still in search of their first victory against the Cape Winelanders.
“It will be a tough one, but also preparing ourselves now and hopefully this time we can win.”
The award was scooped by the then-Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena who led his side to their seventh league title in succession and also won the inaugural African Football League trophy.
Ramovic and Mokwena, who is now the head coach of Morrocan giants Wydad AC had developed an unforgettable rivalry which was close to being reignited before talks between Wydad’s crosstown rivals Raja Casablanca and Ramovic collapsed at the last minute.
