Monyane has featured in six of Pirates’ eight matches this season and was a standout performer in the 3-3 draw with Cape Town City on Saturday.

And Mokwena believes his young star has a bright future ahead of him.

“What I can say is that Thabiso Monyane is a lion,” the Pirates mentor said of the junior international.

“He is unbelievable. At that age, to play the way he is playing, I think the boy is going to be a top player. I think because we (Pirates) are going through a difficult period, not enough is being said about him.”

“Last week he came on and got an assist. I get goosebumps when I talk about him to be honest because I get excited about the future of this country.

“He’s special and credit should go to the Pirates youth coaches for finding him and developing him. He plays with no fear and goes up and down the pitch. What a lion – I think he’s the best right back in the country at the moment.”
