Rulani Mokwena: Maybe I’m not cut out for this game

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has astonishingly revealed that he is losing his love for football.

Mokwena’s side started the season with an 11 game winning run in the DStv Premiership before being held to two successive goalless draws with Cape Town City and Polokwane City.

They are also making good progress in the CAF Champions League, having qualified for the knockout rounds, but were eliminated in the first round of the Carling Knockout Cup and lost in the final of the MTN8.

Speaking after his side’s most recent 0-0 draw, a frustrated Mokwena added that he is now starting to doubt his abilities as a coach.

He said on iDiski Times: “Sorry I’m feeling a bit grumpy, I didn’t give you the best press conference, but this is my mood for the last couple of weeks now, but anyway this is football.

“This game of football, sometimes, every single day it eats away my passion for this game, I’m slowly losing my love for this game and it’s very sad.

“It’s very, very sad because I was born into football and I look at how this game is going and I say to myself, ‘maybe I’m not cut out for this game’, I’m in a space where I say to myself, ‘maybe I’m not good enough to be a football coach’.”
