Ronwen Williams ruled out for Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have been dealt a blow with a continued injury to captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

The 32-year-old shotstopper hurt his shoulder while playing for South Africa at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.

He subsequently missed the Brazilians pre-season tour of Austria.

Williams has since reportedly undergone surgery to his shoulder and is now expected to miss the start of the Betway Premiership campaign.

“With the start of the 2024/25 season just days away, reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns have been dealt a worrying injury blow,” wrote Soccer Laduma.

Jody February, Dennis Onyango and Reyaad Pieterse are all now expected to fight it out for a starting berth as Sundowns kick off their 2024/25 season at home to Polokwane City in the quarter-finals of the MTN8.
