Gabriel’s charges started their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Polokwane City before 1-1 draws with both Chippa United and Durban City.
Chiefs, meanwhile, overcame Kruger United and Sekhukhune before holding Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 stalemate.
Ahead of the game, the Bay boss explained that his side are improving in both attack and defence with every game they play.
“For us, I feel the offensive structure has been good, the defensive structure has been good,” he said on iDiski Times.
“We’ve been pressing the right lines. We’re on the right track in terms of individual performances or individual efforts, we’re happy with it.
“We can go back to that [Durban City] game and say we were battling, defending but that was a good defensive structure because you look at the numbers and what we had behind the ball, those were good moments.
“So, we take more the positives into the [Chiefs] game rather than the negatives.”
