Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena is well aware that it is a results-based industry and that his side must find their winning form soon.
Pirates endured their fourth defeat of the season with a 3-2 loss at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby played at FNB Stadium last Saturday.
As a result, they sit 15 points adrift of their arch-rivals Amakhosi, who lead the log at present.
“The players have done extremely well to make sure that they protect the reputation and integrity of the club, which is an important thing,” Mokwena told KickOff.
“Of course big clubs are judged by results, we know that and we are not going to step down on that because the moment we step down from that we lose our status as a big club.
“But we are realistic and fortunately we have management that understand football, understands where we are, understands why we are where we are, and supporters that understand football.
“But be that as it may, you know obviously we have to start to turn those good performances into results.”
Pirates brough in 10 new faces and let go of 15 old ones, which Mokwena believes has meant the time has needed time to integrate.
“We had to work hard to build our style and game model. It started with the previous coach. The difficulty has been introducing the new players and trying to adapt to a new style, a new environment and to rebuild a new team,” he explained.
“We understand the process, we understand what has happened with our team. We know why we are where we are. We know the transition that took place.
“We know at the beginning of the season we had to make a face-lift in the squad. When you do that unfortunately we had to let go of 15 players and you bring 10 players and of course there is adaptation that has to take place.”
