SuperSport United are reportedly interested in securing the services of midfielder Thabang Monare following his Orlando Pirates exit.

On Friday, Pirates announced that they have parted ways with Monare, 34, after he spent four seasons with the club.

The former Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits midfielder made over 90 appearances for the Buccaneers between 2020 and 2024. He won two Nedbank Cups and three MTN8 trophies.

‘Desh’ was also part of the Bafana Bafana squad that won a bronze medal at the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that was hosted in Ivory Coast.

According to Diski Times, SuperSport are interested in signing the veteran midfielder. His experience is seen as one that could help the club to grow even more and compete for trophies.

Matsatsantsa have a lot of young players in their books, but also already have some experienced midfielders in Grant Margeman, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Jessie Donn and Phathutshendzo Nange.

They finished seventh in the league in 2023/24, but coach Gavin Hunt admitted he wants to get back into CAF football with the club.
