Report: Rulani Mokwena Targeting New Recruit at Wydad Casablanca

Rulani Mokwena has identified key targets in Wydad Casablanca’s preparations for the second half of the season and the FIFA Club World Cup, which is scheduled to start in June 2025.

They’ve already made one winter signing, bringing in Fahd Moufi on a free transfer from HNK Hajduk Split.

While the pursuits of Nordin Amrabat and Hamza Mendyl were unsuccessful, the club is reportedly close to securing Mickael Malsa. Moroccan press indicates that coach Rulani Mokwena has approved the signing of the defensive midfielder.

Malsa, who has been without a club since leaving Real Valladolid in February 2024, impressed the Wydad coaching staff during a trial. Despite three appearances for Martinique (though not since 2014), the 29-year-old has spent his career in Europe, playing in France (Sochaux), Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, and Spain, including around 60 La Liga appearances for Levante and Valladolid.

This move would be a significant opportunity for Malsa, potentially offering him the chance to play in the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.
