Marumo Gallants FC have reinstated their head coach Dan Malesela following a turbulent period during his absence.
Malesela had been on special leave, the specifics of which were kept confidential between him and the club.
While Malesela was away, the team faced significant challenges, notably a crushing 8-1 defeat against Orlando Pirates and a narrow 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United.
These results prompted the club to reconsider Malesela’s leave, recognizing the urgency to stabilize their performance.
An insider revealed to KickOff, “Yes, the coach is back with the team now. He reported for duty on Sunday and is in charge again. Any differences or issues he had with management have been resolved.”
This suggests that both Malesela and the club have moved past their previous disagreements.
The sentiment within the club seems positive with the same source adding, “Everyone at the club is happy he’s back with us. Without him, things could have gotten worse.”
The team currently sit in 13th place in the Premiership standings, garnering just 10 points from 11 matches with only three victories under their belt.
Looking forward, Marumo Gallants are set to host Richards Bay FC at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on January 4, 2025, in what will be a critical match for Malesela to prove his return can rejuvenate the squad’s fortunes.
