Radiopane initially against loan move from Bucs

Orlando Pirates teenage sensation Boitumelo Radiopane, who has been loaned out to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Cape Town Spurs, admits he initially would have preferred to stay at Bucs.

The 19-year-old starred for Pirates in the 2021/2022 DStv Diski Challenge, scoring 23 goals, winning both the Top Goal Scorer and Player of the Year awards.
Radiopane was reportedly wanted by a number of DStv Premiership sides but Pirates and the players representatives elected to loan him out to Cape Town Spurs in an attempt to “toughen him up”.
In an interview carried by IOL, the young forward confirms that he had wanted to stay at Bucs and try his luck in the first team. But after talks with club officials and his ProSport International representative Mike Makaab it was decided that moving to the Mother City to be coached by Shaun Bartlett was the best way forward for his career.
“I wanted to stay at Pirates for the upcoming season but obviously with everything that’s happened now I can’t but I’ll always be grateful for everything the club is doing for me,” Radiopane said.
Radiopane added that he was glad to be working career-wise with former Pirates coach Makaab.
I’m very happy to be working with Mike Makaab, he’s a former Pirates coach and an experienced man so it was his decision for me to join Spurs and I’m happy about it.”
