Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Unai Emery has replaced Laurent Blanc as the club’s new manager on a two-year contract.
Blanc had won every domestic trophy on offer in his three seasons at Parc des Princes, including back-to-back trebles in the last two years.
But his failure to guide PSG beyond the quarter-final stages of the UEFA Champions League on three separate occasions ultimately cost the Frenchman his job.
The Ligue 1 champions have subsequently turned to Emery, who recently led Sevilla to a historic third successive Europa League title, in their quest to conquer Europe’s elite club competition.
“It is an honour for me to accept the challenge of coaching @PSG this coming season,” the 44-year-old Spaniard said on Twitter.
