PREVIEW: UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTERFINALS

The quarter-final stage of the Champions League is once again here, and there is absolutely no shortage of interest and intrigue!

Real Madrid welcoming Pep Guardiola’s City to the capital will likely highlight the round for many, but given the competition and matchup’s available – there is plenty opportunity to strike gold!

Tuesday 9 April

15/20 Arsenal | Draw 29/10 | Bayern Munich 32/10 (21:00)

What a fairytale fixture this is! Who can forget the 10-2 demolition when these two faced off back in 2017? I know it’s been a while, but Arsenal is back in the business rounds of the Champions League and given the way Mikel Arteta has them playing…they are worthy favourites.

Thomas Tuchel and Harry Kane return to London but given Bayern’s recent performances, they look to be a shadow of their former selves. Arsenal have been flying in the League, but I still don’t trust them to perform when the pressure really ramps up. Bayern will know that the Champions League is the only way to save their season and coupled with their experience and European pedigree I think they win. 32/10 about the away win seems to be a gift.

7/4 Real Madrid | Draw 5/2 | Manchester City 14/10 (21:00)

Do I detect a touch of revenge in the air here? I’ve seen a lot of articles suggest that Madrid are the underdogs here, the 4-0-win last season at the Etihad, no real out and out number nine upfront and issues defensively, don’t really rack up the confidence when you are playing City.

However, with that being said, City have shown some vulnerability themselves in recent weeks. They concede far too often – and early – for my liking and the reality is when you play a side who can really punish you, you might be forced to pay the price.

Back Madrid to score first.
