PREVIEW: SERIE A

Gameweek 31 promises excitement, drama, and intense competition, with the “Derby della Capitale” between AS Roma and Lazio serving as the pinnacle of the weekend’s fixtures. Whether it’s the battle for supremacy in Rome or the fight for survival at the other end of the table, football fans can expect a thrilling round of matches as the season reaches its climax.

Friday 5 April

2/1 Salernitana | Draw 24/10 | Sassuolo 5/4 (20:45)

Salernitana recorded their third consecutive loss after a 3-0 defeat against Bologna. Relegation is a guarantee for Salernitana as they stay rooted to the bottom of the table in last place. Sassuolo who are also starring down the barrel of relegation, managed to claim a point against Udinese in a 1-1 stalemate. A win for Sassuolo will take them out of the red zone given the other fixtures fall in their favour. Sassuolo to win.

Saturday 6 April

4/10 AC Milan | Draw 36/10 | Lecce 6/1 (15:00)

AC Milan has stepped up in the past few weeks and with the impressive away victory to Fiorentina they have extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the league with two clean sheets to add to this recent hot form. Visitors, Lecce had a tough evening of football against Roma but managed to walk away with a point. With just a single win away from home all season, Lecce will need a miracle on the day to defeat AC Milan at the San Siro. Back the home win and over 2.5 goals.

1/1 Roma | Draw 22/10 | Lazio 26/10 (18:00)

9/4 Empoli | Draw 22/10 | Torino 12/10 (20:45)

After four consecutive defeats, Empoli find themselves in the relegation battle. They have also lost their previous two home fixtures, making this a mountain to climb as Empoli will want to claim these much-needed three points. Torino comes into this fixture high in confidence, unbeaten in the last four outings in the league with three clean sheets. Torino to win.

Sunday 7 April

26/10 Frosinone | Draw 51/20 | Bologna 19/20 (12:30)

In the last six matches, Frosinone has only managed to come away with two points from a possible 21 available. They have lost two of the last three home games. Bologna has been outstanding and has won six out of the last seven matches while being unbeaten in the last three away fixtures. Bologna boss Thiago Motta will demand maximum points as they eye a place in Europe next season. Bologna to win.

28/10 Monza | Draw 26/10 | Napoli 17/20 (15:00)

The loss away to Torino previously ended a two-match unbeaten run for Monza while Napoli’s heavy home defeat against Atalanta put a stop to their five-match unbeaten streak. European football is still a possibility for the defending champions after a season full of misfortune, but I believe Napoli has the personnel to claim their seventh away victory of the season. Napoli win and BTTS.

37/10 Cagliari | Draw 29/10 | Atalanta 13/20 (18:00)

Cagliari is still not safe from getting dragged into the relegation fight despite the 1-1 draw with fellow relegation strugglers Verona. It will need to be a masterclass from Cagliari on the day as they take on Atalanta, who cruised past Napoli in a 3-0 victory. Atalanta will want to put their name in the hat for Europe next season and will want maximum points to put pressure on the teams above them. Atalanta to win with over 2.5 goals.

7/4 Verona | Draw 2/1 | Genoa 33/20 (18:00)

Verona is still well in the relegation battle after their 1-1 draw with Cagliari previously. If there are any hopes of playing in Serie A next season, Verona will need to play on the front foot and play for maximum points. Genoa will want to stay clear of being dragged into the red zone and after two consecutive draws, Alberto Gilardino will demand a performance worthy of maximum points. Genoa win and BTTS.

8/10 Juventus | Draw 5/2 | Fiorentina 33/10 (20:45)

Securing Champions League football will be a top priority for Juventus from now until the end of the season as they prepare to take on Fiorentina at home in the Allianz Arena. Both clubs face each other on the back of defeats and winless in the last three fixtures in the league. With the home-ground advantage in Juventus’s favour and the squad’s quality, I see the Bianconeri returning to winning ways. Back the home win here.

Monday 8 April

52/10 Udinese | Draw 34/10 | Inter Milan 5/10 (20:45)

Inter Milan have not taken their foot off the pedal and come into this match on a seven-game unbeaten run in the league. The Scudetto is well within reach for the Nerazzurri and with the devastating form they find themselves in Udinese will need to come up with a master plan to stop Milan from running riot on their grounds. Back Milan to win.
