Preview: Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur, kick-off time, betting odds, predictions & More

In all honesty, I cannot believe that there are some who believe that this fixture is indicative of who is going to win the League…I mean, if City have points deducted, surely United are a shoo-in?

Ok, it might be too much now, and I think we need to see decorum restored here.

Manchester City vs Spurs | Saturday 23 November | The Etihad Stadium | Kick-off 19:30

To Win (90 mins)
Manchester City 11/20
Draw 33/10
Spurs 44/10

Manchester City

After the defeat to Brighton, City midfielder Bernardo Silva said that they were in a “dark place”. Pep Guardiola’s men have now lost their last two games; after coming unstuck against Sporting in Portugal, they lost to Brighton in the League before the commencement of the international break.

I’m on the fence as to whether the international break came at the right time for City, but nevertheless, they get their domestic campaign up and running again by welcoming Spurs to the Etihad.

There is no doubt the defending champions will have a point to prove, but they will have to know that they face an opponent who will not show any fear and bring the game to them.

This will be a high-energy game, and if City are able to match the intensity and showcase their quality, I think they will return to winning ways here.

Spurs

Spurs are another side who come back from the international break looking to return to winning ways. Spurs were undone by Ipswich, but they will no doubt be rather disappointed with their performance.

Big Ange has been pretty straightforward about his side’s approach, the reality of their style and the need to play fearless, confident football to come away with anything. They know they face an opponent of immense ability and quality, but also an opponent who has struggled to produce consistent quality.

I say this with the greatest degree of respect, but Spurs have the advantage of playing with no pressure here. it is an advantage to be playing away from home against a City side that will have immense pressure to get back to winning ways. The longer the visitors stay in the game, they have a chance.

Prediction: City (11/20)

I think the quality of this City side can be flat and placid for only so long…they will want to respond here, and I think they claim all three points on offer. Back the hosts at respectable odds.
