PREVIEW: LA LIGA

Arda Guler scored on his first La Liga start as Real Madrid closed in on the title with victory at Real Sociedad. Carlo Ancelotti had made a raft of changes after last weekend’s win in El Clasico; however, it was the same result. With just five league games remaining, Los Blancos need four more points to cement the title. Second takes on third this weekend when Barcelona travels to Girona on Saturday evening. Xavi’s men put four past Valencia in their previous runout and look like a vastly improved team, compared to the one we saw previously. All that and more in this weekend’s preview!

Friday 03 May

5/2 Getafe | Draw 21/10 | Athletic Club 12/10 (21:00)

Athletic Club lost steam in their bid for a Champions League spot as they were dispatched 3-1 by Atletico Madrid. In what has already been a trophy-bearing season, Ernesto Valverde will look to finish strong!

Back the away side on the win and over 2.5 goals at 31/10.

Saturday 04 May

7/20 Real Sociedad | Draw 36/10 | Las Palmas 15/2 (14:00)

It was a case of results not being a true reflection of last weekend’s game for Real Sociedad. The txuri-urdin dominated most of the first half against a heavily changed Real Madrid side, but failed to find the back of the net, as they fell to defeat.

I expect the home side to claim maximum points here. Back Sociedad on the win and BTTS (yes) at 26/10.

3/10 Real Madrid | Draw 42/10 | Cadiz 15/2 (16:15)

It seems like Carlo Ancelotti can do no wrong at the moment. The log leaders claimed maximum points last weekend, despite being outplayed by a fired-up Real Sociedad team. I think they flex their muscles in this one.

Back Real Madrid on the win and over 3.5 goals at 2/1.

37/20 Girona | Draw 26/10 | Barcelona 5/4 (18:30)

See Preview Match.

11/4 Mallorca | Draw 9/4 | Atletico Madrid 1/1 (21:00)

Atletico Madrid put some daylight between them and fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao, in the race for the Champions League spots. With their faltering away record, I wouldn’t put it past Mallorca to get something from this one!

Back the home side on the double chance and over 1.5 goals at 16/10.

Sunday 05 May

39/20 Osasuna | Draw 9/4 | Real Betis 14/10 (14:00)

Real Betis and Sevilla shared the spoils in the Sevilla derby, last time out. It was an improved attacking performance from Pellegrini’s men, and I think they are finding form as we approach the tail end of the season.

Back the away side here at 14/10.

13/10 Celta Vigo | Draw 5/2 | Villarreal 19/10 (16:15)

It’s been a mixed bag of results for Claudio Giraldez, since taking over from Rafa Benitez at Celta Vigo. Away defeats to Alaves and Betis in the league have masked impressive home performances against Las Palmas and Rayo Vallecano. I think there is some value here on their home form.

Back Celta Vigo on the win and BTTS (yes) at 31/10.

1/1 Valencia | Draw 21/10 | Alaves 32/10 (18:30)

Back-to-back victories have seen Alaves leap into twelfth place. A run of four league defeats from five league outings saw them take a nosedive in the standings, but Luis Garcia has managed to turn things around.

Back Alaves on the double chance and BTTS (yes) at 49/20.

11/20 Rayo Vallecano | Draw 31/10 | Almeria 46/10 (21:00)

Back-to-back league defeats have all but confirmed Almeria’s relegation. The troubled outfit has conceded 2+ goals in each of their previous four league outings and is showing minimal signs of improvement at the bottom of the log.

Back Rayo Vallecano on the double chance and under 3.5 goals at 6/10.

11/20 Sevilla | Draw 31/10 | Granada 44/10 (21:00)

Former Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores is showing that his antics in England were no flash in the pan! The tactician has breathed life into his Los Nervionenses revival project, and they are now unbeaten in four. They make it five on the bounce here against an underwhelming Granada team.

Back the home side on the win and over 2.5 goals at 14/10.
