The New Peter Mokaba Stadium will host another thrilling encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United. These two sides locked horns a week ago in a Carling Knockout Cup last 16 tie that saw Chiefs easing past United 4-0 thanks to goals from Gaston Sirino, Yusuf Maart, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez.
The Tshwane side will be under pressure to turn the situation around and avoid another humiliation in front of their home fans. They failed to rebound from the 4-0 defeat and suffered another loss during their visit to Orlando Pirates 2-0 at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
To Win Match

Kaizer Chiefs 15/10
Kaizer Chiefs
Amakhosi will be looking for a repeat of last Saturday’s showing where they made quick work of SuperSport in a bid to avoid a second straight league loss having been edged by Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in their last league match.
They are currently sitting seventh on the log with six points after recording two wins and one loss in their opening three games.
Nasreddine Nabi looks to have revived Kaizer Chiefs following a disastrous 2023-24 season which saw them finishing 10th after collecting a mere 36 points and stretching their long-standing trophy drought under the guidance of three different coaches.
The former Young African coach is currently enjoying a good start to his tenure at the Naturena-based team, he has won four games and experienced one loss in five games across all competitions.
Newcomers Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Rushwin Dortley, and Bradley Cross look to have settled well at the club and have become regular starters.
SuperSport United
United are eyeing a second league win having experienced a slow start to their 2024-25 campaign which began with a loss against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 Cup and was followed by another loss against cross-town Mamelodi Sundowns in their league opener.
The Spartans have suffered five defeats in seven matches across all competitions this season, they are sitting 13th on the log with four points.
In his effort to turn the situation around, Gavin Hunt has roped in Ethiopian forward Abubeker Nasir who was on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns. Nasir was sidelined for almost two seasons following a career-threatening knee injury.
Hunt remains hopeful that the attacker will be vital for SuperSport once he regains his match fitness and will fit well in his set-up.
“There is a bit of a pace in him which is what we need, and he can play in a front three,”
“I think he can play in a front two, he can play by himself, but he can give us options if he is fit, it’s not good if he is not fit.”
Players to watch
Ranga Chivaviro was misfiring last season scoring 4 goals in 23 matches, he looks to have found his scoring boots under Nabi as he was also on target in their last match against Matsatsantsa despite missing some clear-cut chances which saw him receiving backlash from the fans.
Gaston Sirino looks to be enjoying his stint at Amakhosi having been sidelined for a while during his last season at Sundowns. He has scored two goals in four matches and is expected to trouble the home side’s defence.
Former Pirates winger Vincent Pule showed character against Pirates on Tuesday scoring a goal that was later ruled out as offside. He is a player who can open the Chiefs’ defenders and find the back of the net for his side.
How to watch?
Tickets are still on sale for football faithful who can be able to make their way to the stadium to witness the showdown live. The match will also be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 202 and can also be streamed anywhere on the DSTV Stream app which is available on all app stores.
New Peter Mokaba Stadium
The 46,000-seater was packed and buzzing last Saturday when it hosted these two giants of South African football, and a similar feel is expected this weekend as fans are set to flock to the stadium to rally behind their favorite team.
Head-to-head stats
SuperSport United 0-4 Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 SuperSport United
SuperSport United 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs
SuperSport United 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs
Prediction: Kaizer Chiefs to win at 15/10
The absence of Bradley Grobler who is currently recovering from an injury has been greatly felt by United as they seem to be toothless in front of goals this season. Grobler played 23 league matches and scored 11 goals. Tashreeq Morris who played his first match against Chiefs is still trying to find his feet in the club.
The Glamour Boys have been a hard side to beat this season, and I am positive that another victory is on the horizon for them. Back Chiefs to win.
