Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has singled out Camren Dansin and Thapelo Mokobodi for praise after the Buccaneers returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Chippa United.

Second-half goals from Ghampani Lungu, Lebone Seema and Daniel Msendami secured a convincing win at Kings Park Stadium, leaving Chippa still searching for their first victory of the season.

Ouaddou opted to deploy the young Dansin and Mokobodi as his two central midfielders and was impressed by their ability to influence the match against a compact Chippa defence.

“We knew they would have maybe a mid-block, compact block and we needed players to find the players between the lines,” Ouaddou told SuperSport. “I wanted to play with two eights.”

The Pirates manager felt both youngsters justified their selection and suggested they could have significant futures at the club if they can reproduce Saturday’s performance consistently.

“I think they were great, two profiles, two young players. Pirates have a great future,” he said. “Now the question is to repeat the quality they showed today. We’ll see.”

Ouaddou was also pleased with the contribution from the rest of his squad, including those introduced from the bench.

“From the keeper to the striker, involving the impact players, they gave us a very good answer today. I’m happy,” he said.

Pirates have spent the past week in Durban, drawing with AmaZulu before overcoming Chippa, and Ouaddou thanked both the supporters and the Kings Park grounds staff.

“The fans, all the time we have been supported well, fantastic fans,” he said. “And I would like to thank the groundskeeper because maybe three games on that pitch. Very professional.”

The victory provides Pirates with renewed momentum as they prepare for their next challenge.
