Pitso Mosimane lands new Saudi post

Pitso Mosimane has been named head coach of Saudi Arabian Pro League side side Al Abha.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor had been without a job since leaving United Arab Emirates side Al-Wahda.

Mosimane was wildly successful with Sundowns before swapping South Africa for Egypt, where he led Al-Ahli to six titles, including the CAF Champions League, twice.

His next job was to get Al-Ahli SFC promoted from the second tier of Saudi football to the top flight, while he only last a short time with Al-Wahda in the UAE, having left the club citing interference in his team selections.

His new team are currently in 17th place in their 18-team league, with 14 points from 19 games.

MT Sports MD Moira Tlhagale told the Sunday World: “I can confirm to you that coach Pitso has officially signed with Saudi Arabia club Abha FC on Thursday.

“Coach Pitso will be returning to the gulf and has signed a four-month contract with the team until the end of the season.

“His mandate is clear and that is to ensure that Abha survives relegation and plays in the Pro League again next season.”
