Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is at a loss as to how to deal with troubled playmaker Gaston Sirino after his latest indiscretion.
Sirino has been under the spotlight in recent months for his on-field discipline. It all started in the 2-0 MTN8 semi-final defeat to SuperSport United on in which the Uruguayan was involved in a scuffle with Clayton Daniels and Dean Furman.
Sirino appeared to shove Daniels in the throat before slapping Dean Furman as the Matsatsantsa captain tried to break up the altercation. The 26-year-old was set to appear before a PSL Disciplinary enquiry on a charge of assault earlier this months but those proceedings have been delayed to Wednesday due to Sirino reportedly suffering from stress.
And to make matters worse, Sirino was sent off in the 2-1 Telkom Knockout victory over Golden Arrows for a shocking studs-up challenge on Arrows captain Matome Mathiane.
And Mosimane is running out of ideas on how to deal with his creative maestro after his latest indiscretion and even suggested Sirino may need psychological help.
“How do you deal with Danny [Phiri] with yellow cards every day? How do you deal with Willard [Katsande] with yellow cards every day?” Mosimane asked KickOff.
“It’s our lives as coaches, there are those kind of players who you know will always put you in that space all the time because they can’t control their temper.”
Mosimane admits he feels powerless and believes there is only so much he can do as he is a football coach and not a psychologist.
“Remember I’m a football coach not a psychologist to give him all that. It’s emotions man. I don’t know how to explain it, probably you must ask him,” said the Masandawana mentor.
