The sides have now met each other in four successive seasons, with the latest group stage fixture ending in a stalemate.

And Sundowns will be the more pleased of the two sides playing away from home.

“Like I mentioned yesterday ahead of the match, the game played out as we expected,” Mosimane told the club’s official website.

“Games between us (Wydad Casablanca & Mamelodi Sundowns) are always like this.

“A beautiful game like this deserves goals. I would have accepted a 1 – 1 draw or a 2 – 2 draw. Home and away goals don’t matter in the group stages.”

The Masandawana mentor then spoke of the massive respect he and his side have for the North African giants, who knocked out at the semi-final stage last season.

The Brazilians remain in top spot of Group C and next face USM Alger after their Telkom Knockout final clash with Maritzburg United.

“We started better. It was a game of two halves, the First Half belonged to Sundowns and the Second Half to Wydad,” said Mosimane.

“In the last 15 minutes Wydad put us under pressure. But we defended well, with clean tackles.”

“Overall it was a good game, Wydad is a great team and we respect them always.”
