Pitso does not rate Thela Ngobeni highly

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni is not up to the standard of the first choice Denis Onyango or second choice Kennedy Mweene.

Ngobeni has never been able to establish himself at Chloorkop and has spent the majority of his career either on the sidelines or on loan at Free State Stars.

In addition, Mosimane takes the view that the 29-year-old is simply too short to cope with the demands of the CAF Champions League.

It appears the shot-stopper could be set for another loan move elsewhere though reports have suggested he may seal a permanent deal to join Ea Lla Koto in the near future.

Speaking to Kickoff, the Brazilians mentor said: “It’s a little bit difficult for Thela and he might not be happy with what I am saying, to say that I don’t think he is at the level of Denis, that’s my opinion.

“Denis is the number one in Africa, let’s be honest. Kennedy (Mweene) is the number one in Zambia and he is the captain.

“Also Thela is a little bit short and you saw what happened in Horoya (in the Champions League). They’ve got big boys. You’ve got to come out and catch the ball.”
