Peter Shalulile credited his teammates as Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 2-1 win away to Maniema Union in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.
Jephte Bola had opened the scoring for the Congolese side with 38 minutes on the clock at Stade des Martyrs.
Downs appeared to be heading for a narrow loss until substitute Shalulile popped up with an 83rd minute equaliser.
An own-goal from Exaucia Moanda, after pressure from Shalulile, in the fifth minute of injury time at the end of the game secured the three points for the Betway Premiership team.
Shalulile, had only been on the field for four minutes before scoring his goal, and refused to take credit for the win, citing the performance of his teammates as key in turning the tie around.
The goalscorer said in the Citizen: “It was very difficult, it was humid, but I give credit to the guys.
“They dug deep and they pushed and also Ronza (Ronwen Williams) made some saves. We needed to win because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
“For us it’s about winning all our matches to get out of the group stages and we finally got our win and onto the next one, which is on Sunday.”
The result saw Sundowns claim second place in Group B, but they could finish on top if they beat leaders AS FAR in their last group game on Sunday, although a draw would be enough for Shalulile and Co. to progress.
