Percy Tau will join team training with Al Ahly “in a week or so” as he continues to recover from a “partial hamstring tear”.
The 27-year-old former Brighton striker joined the Egyptian Premier League side during the recent transfer window.
The club are currently in pre-season ahead of their 2021/22 campaign but Tau is unable to join in following the knock he sustained while playing for South Africa.
Tau subsequently missed the Egypt Super Cup clash that Al Ahly lost 3-2 on penalties to El Gaish on Tuesday.
Al Ahly head of medical staff Ahmed Abo-Ablaa said on Al Ahly TV: “Tau doesn’t have any chronic injuries, he suffered this injury during his stay in his national team’s camp.
“When Percy returned to Egypt, we checked his current state, he’s suffering a partial hamstring tear, it’s nothing serious.
“The player started his solo training alongside his physical therapy. He’s recovering day after day and will be joining the team’s training in a week or so.”
