Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has landed the 2018/19 Proximus Player of the Season in Belgium’s second tier by a unanimous decision.
According to statistics released by Belgian second tier authorities – Tau was virtually without opposition when it came to the voting.
The 24-year-old landed 228 votes and he was way ahead of Mechelen winger Nikola Storm on 89 while teammate Faiz Selemani got 84.
It marks his second Player of the Season crown in two seasons after he landed the same award in South Africa for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2017/18.
The rising star scored six goals and notched seven assists in 23 league games for Royale Union Saint Gilloise.
Tau is currently on loan from Brighton in the English Premier League and speculation will no doubt mount if he could play a role for the Seagulls in future.
However, the player’s work permit situation could remain a stumbling block ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
